Protein

15 years ago we released this album. The first album on Gomma. It sounds super fresh now. Folky guitar vibes over distorted electronic future beats…

Barotti – Never Talk Again (Video)

Clipboard01

Berlin based performance artist and musican Marco Barotti comes with a new video. If you didn’t have the chance to hear his album from last year (Barotti: Rising LP) now you get a wonderful reminder. Never Talk Again is a song, or better, an opus magnus of electronic – avantgardism. Straight out of Barotti’s phantastic mind. Recorded with an orchestra of strings and horns and the sound of some vintage sinths from the 1970ies. All made in Marocco in long jam sessions. Then edited and reworked in Berlin.
The video for Never Talk Again was shot by Camilla Mantovani.

100% Gomma Mixed By Severino Of Horse Meat Disco

Horse Meat Disco are steady supporters of Gomma since a long time.
The 100% Gomma series invites friends of the label to do a own selection of the Gomma catalogue. In form of a DJ MIX and a compilation.
The last mix (2013) came courtesy of Jacques Renault. He created a cosmic balearic selection. His compilation has been no.1 of JUNO Download house albums charts for six weeks. The new one by Severino used some of the more energetic tracks of the catalogue: Luke Solomon, Morgan Geist, DJ Kaos, Dimitri From Paris, Munk, HessIsMore and many more
Lot of new tracks – but also older tracks – that still sound fresh.
You can get the whole mix as a one hour mixed podcast or as several tracks.

Official video: Munk – The Wurlitzer Wank

Munk’s last single for his release on Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant label just came out on vinyl. The lead track gets heavy support. From Soul Clap to &ME, Axel Boman or Massimiliano Pagliara… so much love for the song.
So we decided to make a video. Shot in the dirty Sonora Market from Mexico City. Filmed by Kapote.

Munk – The Correspondant Gomma Joints

This vinyl EP is a collaboration between Paris label Correspondant and Germany’s Gomma records.
Remixes by Los Angeles’ finest psychedelic electronic producer Secret Circuit (Beats in Space records) and German shooting star Lauer (partner of Gerd Janson of Tuff City Kids).

Why this EP?

Gomma has a long history with the Paris scene. Mathias ‘Munk’ Modica who runs Gomma (and sublabel Toy Tonics) has been living in France for many years. He worked with many parisian artists from DJ Chloe (on Munk’s first album „Aperitivo“ 2004) to the Ed Banger Crew or Black Strobe. Probably apart of Berlin there is no city in the world that saw more Gomma events than Paris. Seems only a project with Jennifer Cardini missed. So Jennifer invited Mathias last year to send over tracks. Decision was made fast. And so „Wurlitzer Wank“ and The „Bösus Bounce“ came out on Correspondant.

The other 2 tracks will come out on Gomma digitally later this year. For now: vinyl only.

The music: You can somehow call it influenced by psychedelic ideas and the 1990ies Detroit electro funk sound of labels like red planet or Gladio. Analogue instruments, funk loops made on a MPC and weird, sick synthesizer melodies. Reminds of the early Munk productions that had no vocals.

Gomma Podcast #130 – Munk Winter Mix

Here comes – a bit late, as always – Mathias Modica’s winter mixtape. But as we know he was busy with other stuff: Releasing two EPs on Local Talk and Correspondant and producing a lot of new music that will come out in 2016. On this mixtape the Munk man serves a quite easy trip through
current soulful house and broken beat goodies. Starting with Tom Misch and Jack J, in a nasty red light bar mood and ending in a trippy space with Berlin’s very own Montezuma’s Revenge and some ethnic downtempo music.

Tracklist:
1 Tom Misch & Bearcubs – Colours of Freedom
2 Jack J – Something On My Mind
3 Munk – Hot Medusa (Kai Alce Remix)
4 Soledrifter – The Beat Inside
5 Hess is More – Youarenotaprimate (Munk Remix)
6 Martin Lewis – Do it
7 Rhode & Brown – Whistleblower (Hodini Remix)
8 Black Sience Orchestra – New Jersey Deep
9 Haaksman – Rename The Street
10 Nicola Cruz – La Cosecha
11 Los Massieras – We Don’t Need.
11 William S. Burroughs – Did I Ever Tell You
12 Montezuma’s Revenge (White Label)

Moullinex performs funky Star Wars disco theme

Our buddy Moullinex had a good idea: They did this amazing disco version of the Star Wars theme in a night club in Portugal.
