The Glimmers – Whomp That Vinyl! (12″)

dt018cover

Release: 15 October 2010
Cat#: Gomma DT018

Can you believe it? The mighty mighty Glimmers – the superheros of wildstyle Djing – the kings of freestyle house – the godfathers of the Belgian new disco scene and “daddies” of people like Soulwax, Aeroplane, Villa will release their new album on Gomma. Soon. You can get the first 4 album tracks now on a vinyl prerelease.

Yes: It’s been a crazy decade for The Glimmers. They co-created Eskimo Recordings, they released several compilations and albums that were received euphorically by their huge worldwide fan crowd: Serie Noire : Dark Pop and New Beat (2002), Remixed, Re-edited and F*cked Up mix album, DJ Kicks (2005), Fabric Live 31 (2006).

Now, their album Whomp That Sucker! will be released in October 2010 on Gomma Records and it is pure dance floor madness. A collection of dance tracks made with Ray Mang (recently signed to DFA) and as the Glimmers describe it .. ”This time we only serve superpowerful discoid beats, analogue synths, bleeps, bass and FX. Play it very loud and be in a different state of mind for best results..” Here’s the 4-track album sampler, available on vinyl and digitally.

Munk – Mondo Vagabondo (EP)

Munk_final_Mondocover

Release: 1 October 2010
Cat#: Gomma 148

Here it is. Finally. The new Munk E.P. After more then two years Mathias Modica comes back with a 5 track EP. And it seems this release could get big. The pre–release single La Musica came in June and had euphoric reactions. Erol Alkan, Ellen Alien, Tim Sweeney and even Mark Ronson are playing it. Busy P used it for his first Mix CD and Kitsune, Bugged Out, Hed Kandi will re-release this italo house anthem on their upcoming compilations. Even Karl Lagerfeld wanted the song in the soundtrack for his Chanel – movie Remember Now.

The Mondo Vagabondo E.P. is kind of a melancholic dance record. Housemusic and Digital Funk with influences from Psychedelic Rock, Italo Pop, Piano disco… lots of electronic afro percussions, sweet melodies, big chords & screaming organs, irresistible bass lines and a balearic ground vibe. Vocals by Parisian singer Clara Cometti – who used to be part of Koko von Napoo, Munich underground disco queen Francy Goertz and Mathias himself.
