New artist: BAROTTI – 1st single out now.

“This is not Techno – this is an opera!” (Peaches)
“Sounds like Woodkid jamming with Nicolas Jaar” (MAG mag)

Barotti is a much talked about multimedia artist based in Berlin. He will release his debut album on Gomma on 20th Nov. This week Gomma puts out the first two songs from the album including a remix by Massimiliano Pagliara (Ostgut Ton/Robert Johnson/Rush Hour)

Barotti has a huge buzz in the international performing-art scene. Doing sound installations and happenings at art galleries and festivals all over the world. When it comes to music this cultural multi-tasker has created an own genre of music. Working with a full orchestra, connecting the beauty of classical instruments with the sound of old analog synths. He creates magic, organic soundscapes. Mystic atmospheres, raw and glamorous at the same time.

Barotti’s music will remind you the atmosphere of Woodkid, Nils Frahm and Sohn, adding influences from the last 200 years of classical music and the distorted electronic aestheticism of Funkstörung and James Blake. The album was recorded in Casablanca and Berlin with a full orchestra.

Munk remixed Xinobi for Discotexas

Discotexas and Gomma have a long history together. Discotexas co-owner Moullinex has been releasing several singles and his debut album on Gomma and the gangs of both labels have a steady friendship. So it was time that Mr. Munk will do something for Xinobi, too.
And here it is: The Munk remix for Xinobis new single. Expect the unexpected: A dancefloor tune with accoustic jazz bass, afro percussions and a unexpected great rolling groove.

Munk Live

There was a great Munk show at Munich Kammerspiele theatre recently. For this show Mathias invited former Munk bass player Pollyester to join the gig and later also the Express Brass Band – A 10 person brass band that created kind of a circus feel on stage. This gig was very special.

Out now: Hess Is More – Bearsong/Primate Remixes

Hess Is More is a 7 person musician’s collective based in New York and Copenhagen around musical mastermind Mikkel Hess. They released their Gomma debut EP last June. Strange, beautiful music from outta space.

Now here come the remixes. Dimitri from Paris did an effective, supersexy disco stomper. Keeping a lot from the original version. The crazy voices, the Punk Funk feel, the moody, new wave atmosphere. But now it’s a club bomb. Then Williamsburg’s hidden underground star Lorne Dune reworked the other song. In a more edgy, distorted way. Beautiful. Then you have a version by Munich’s Pollyester. The former bass player of Munk now has gone solo. She does this kind of naive, early 80ies, powerdisco you could hear at clubs like the Loft or DJ Harvey playing. The EP also features a extra long version of the song Primate. Orgastic Hardcore Disco Rock.
