New York’s The Phenomenal Handclap Band released their debut album 2 years ago on Gomma. For the “Casablanca Reworks” project they did this great remake of the Skatt Bros “Walk The Night” A big gay anthem in the 80ies. A great dancefloor tune for today!

This week our Phenomenal Handclap Band reach number one on French iTunes Alternative chart! Yeah…congratulations guys. “15 to 20″, the single from their last album on Gomma is placed above Muse and Coldplay.. PHB’s gonna rule the world..!

The Phenomenal Handclap Band – our Gomma buddies from New York have been touring the world for months – creating love and happiness everywhere. Now they did this beautiful little mixtape for our Gomma’s Podcast series. There is not much left to say about The Phenomenal Handclap Band from NYC. Blogs, music mags, everybody raved about this new 8 members psychedelic funk future hippie combo. The NME described them as the “follow up to MGMT and Empire Of The Sun”.

Anyway: here is the new single. Remixes by: Blackstrobe from Paris–The pioneers of the Parisian House scene are coming back with their first remix since years. And they do a beautiful -one for the ladies- classic 90ies house tune. Rodion from Italy are in the perfect Italo disco mood and Daniel Haaksman -the dude behind Europe’s leading Baile Funk label Man Recordings comes up with heavy heavy percussion breaks. And Clock Opera aka Guy Connelly, after remixing Bloc Party and Peter, Bjorn & John, contributes a deep, rolling remix.

Taken from the album “The Phenomenal Handclap Band” out on Gomma. Single with remixes by Blackstrobe, Daniel Haaksman, Clock Opera and Rodion will be released on March 12th. Here’s the video for the original track, directed by Stephen Agnew in New York half a year ago but not finished till now. A 3-minute blood, soul and slasher micro masterpiece.
