Mr. Munk has been doing a lot of new music recently. Two new EPs will come out on labels of our friends.
The first one just got released on Jennifer Cardini’s great Correspondant label. It’s called „The Wurlitzer Wank“ and includes two new tracks and a remix by Secret Circuit (Beats in Space).
It’s not the first time Munk works with the parisian scene. Already on the first Munk album „Aperitivo“ (2004) he worked with DJ Chloe. Later there were Munk collabos with the Ed Banger crew, I’m A Cliche and other people from the parisian scene. So this new collabo made totally sense in the Munk history.

The next Munk thing will come out on Local Talk in december.

Mr. Munk has been very busy over the last months. Mostly by touring the world after the release of his last album CHANSON 3000, putting together the new Gomma compilation POP FUTURO (out in spring) and producing new music. Now he found the time to do a new mixtape. This spring mix includes some unreleased Gomma material (Check the wonderful opening track: Nils Penner’s remix for Hotlane) and music that he loves to play in his current DJ sets.
Of course the mixtape is a bit sweeter than his club mixes, but that’s one of the things that make Munk mixtapes so interesting: They are unpredictable – Go with the flow.

The new Munk album Chanson 3000 has just been released.
Music press and blogs are writing euphoric reviews.
“Brilliant”, “A work of absolute beauty” ,”Weird, but beautful electronic pop” are just a few description from the UK press.

“Deceiver” is the new single. A mellow mid-tempo song – based on a strange, but driving, bass-heavy electronic beat, nasty synthlines and the absolute stunning voice of Lizzie Paige – the young American singer that performs all songs on the new Munk album along with London born vocalist Mona Lazette.

The new single comes along with a great video by Milan based directors PROJ3CTSTUDIO. And remixes by PURPLE DISCO MACHINE (Exploited), new German producer genius LCAW and a country house version by Mr Munk himself.

“Chanson 3000″ is finally released! All songs feature the new Munk voices:
23 years old american upcoming talent LIZZIE PAIGE and London born MONA LAZETTE – who has been working with artists like Catz ‘N Dogz and Kele Okereke (Bloc Party) before. The music was all written by Mathias Modica and has been recorded over the last two years in Berlin. There has been little additional help by Ray Mang and Mark Ralph (Daniel Avery, Franz Ferdinand producer) on a few songs.

Mr. Munk’s summer mix includes only music by Gomma friends from all over the world. His collaboration with mexican amigo Rebolledo – “Surf Smurf” – and a new track by mexican duo Zombies in Miami on the wonderful La Dame Noir label from Marseille. The new tracks by portoguise discoteer Moullinex on Gomma. The last 12″ on Public Possession – the Munich label run by Marvin & Valentino and the last 12″ on the other great label from Munich: Permanent Vacation. You find an old but rare track by Max Graef and a few gems from Italians like Rodion, Bottin and Toy Tonics artist Ricardo Baez. There is also an unreleased new track by Berlin duo Hotlane – the James Curd remix that may be one of the hits next fall. Big tunes – nice guys.

Mr. Modica finally finished his new Munk album. (Release in September)
We sent some of the tracks to friends and the reactions were awesome.
Some other labels started to ask if they can release some of the album tracks.
We agreed. So the first single will be released by our friends from EXPLOITED Records in May.
The song is called SOUTHERN MOON and features US born, Berlin living vocalist Lizzie Paige. Remixes come from HNNY & Darius Syrossian.

Normally Mr Munk’s podcasts are made for home listening, travelling through many styles and decades.. Now we are happy to have this live recording from a party at Munich’s No.1 House club Charlie. Recorded in march 2014.
It shows quite well that Mathias still is one of the champions if it comes to mixing rare techno, underground disco and new house into one big flow.

After his recent cooperation with Pachanga Boys’ Rebolledo - Mr. Munk continues his 2014 release marathon with a single on London’s finest house label Under The Shade. Label of Ben Pearce and other big names of last year’s house revival. The new single “Intimate Stranger” features again Berlin/Brixton supergirl Mona Lazette on the mic.

The song is a futuristic house tune with classic song structure, harmonies inspired by 60ies American soul songs and reminds a bit of the great pop composers such as Trevor Horn. The amazing voice of Mona Lazette and the beautiful chords of Gomma boss Munk create a completely new way of house music. This is not retro – it’s a new edge.

The single comes with remixes by Mammarella, Plastic Plates and Mercury.

The crazy Surf Smurf single by Rebolledo and Gomma’s Munk created some euphoria. Resident Advisor just made a big feature and blogs all over are getting crazy for this Rockabilly Techno absurdity.
