Recently we have been asked if we want to rework some songs from the legendary Casablanca Records catalogue. Of course, you don’t need to think twice if you get the possibility to put your hands on classic tracks by people like Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder, The Skatt Brothers, Stephanie Mills or the Flashdance soundtrack!

So Moullinex, Telonius, Munk and The Phenomenal Handclap Band from New York went in their studios and created four new interpretations. We asked old Gomma friend Peaches if she would join the jams – as we think that she is one of the few singers of today who has the right understanding of musical history, the perfect dirty approach, full consciousness of the needed style and enough soul. Because yes: she got soul.

The result: listen for yourself. Every cover is a unique, unexpected, super catchy very modern interpretation. Ranging from dirty boogie funk, to futuristic house and even some nasty Bananarama Glamour.
In the end of the production we had a nice surprise: Casablanca producer Icon Harold Faltermeyer visited the Gomma studio with a friend. He liked the project a lot and offered to play some keyboards. Check his solo keys on Telonius & Peaches “Our Love” cover version!

For this huge project we made a cooperation with our friends from Audiotool. The great online music production tool. We think they had a great idea with developing the free online music producers community. We will give them the stems of all the 4 tracks in January for 6 weeks. All the kids in the Audiotool community will have the chance to own remixes. And if we like them we will release them on Gomma later.
