as you might know Gomma records is sleeping. But we have 2 other labels:

Toy Tonics for dancemusic & Kryptox for Jazz, Kraut & Electronica experiments.

Now we released the thrid album on Kryptox. By wonderful young german composer and sax player Ralph Heidel. Music for string quartett & jazzband. We recomend to listen. It’s beautiful and unique music. Inspired by Olafur Arnalds, John Zorn, Post Rock and Radiohead…

Mr. Munk started a mixtape-series consisting only of old Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and Latin records from his vinyl collection. Some classic Dance Jazz jams inside, but also lots of very rare records that you won’t find on Youtube, Discogs or elsewhere…

It’s so sad.. In december the legendary drummer of CAN, Jaki Liebezeit, was in the studio with Mathias Modica to record the drums for Mathias’ instrumental Jazzelectronics album, coming out this summer. And now suddenly he died. We recommend to listen to ALL CAN albums in case you didn’t know them yet.

Discotexas and Gomma have a long history together. Discotexas co-owner Moullinex has been releasing several singles and his debut album on Gomma and the gangs of both labels have a steady friendship. So it was time that Mr. Munk will do something for Xinobi, too.
And here it is: The Munk remix for Xinobis new single. Expect the unexpected: A dancefloor tune with accoustic jazz bass, afro percussions and a unexpected great rolling groove.

The last Munk album came out over two years ago (Chanson 3000) and Mathias has spent lot of time in the studio since then. Starting in autumn 2015 there will be a bunch of new releases by Mathias. First on the map are two singles on our friends’ labels. The first one is the “Wurlitzer Wank EP” on Jennifer Cardinis Correspondant Records (30.10.). Including a remix by Secret Circuit. Shortly after this (9.11.) there will be the “Hot Medusa/ Purple Dust” EP on Local Talk. Including a remix by Kai Alce that sounds like George Benson doing jazz funk house.
Also a new Munk song with Mona Lazette on Mixrophone will come out in january 2016. Last week Discotexas released a new Munk remix for Xinobi. Check that out, too…

By the way: We opened a temporary bar in Munich. It’s a mix of Bar, club and gallery. Looks crazy and is crazy. Artist Martin Fengel did the whole club in a sick mutated cat design. There is a lot of gold, batik and walls that look like they were made on LSD. This week our graphist Mirko Borsche will do a special installation. Gomma DJs Rhode & Brown, Taran Frisch and other will DJ. Come over – Munich Disco town rocks.

The Gomma label becomes 15 years old!
We started as babies and now we’ve got beards..

To celebrate we just released the Pop Futuro Compilation with contributions by Hot Chip, WhoMadeWho, Metronomy, Moullinex, Daniel Avery and many others and we will do a big spectacle at Kammerspiele Theatre in Munich – with many friends, new Gomma artists and an exhibition by our graphists Mirko Borsche and Thomas Kartsolis:
